Event
Border Battle – August 11
Saturday, August 11th
10:30am – 5:30pm
WHAT IS BORDER BATTLE?
Whether we argue about who has the best football team, or who can brew the best beer, Minnesota and Wisconsin have always had a competitive spirit against one another. This year we will be starting a new tradition to put our communities talents up against some competition from the East. That’s right we have been challenged…. in a fun little brother kind of way 😉 to a CrossFit Border Battle. This summer and hopefully every summer going forward, we will be hosting Lift Crossfit from Wausau Wisconsin in a one day CrossFit Competition on August 11th. The day long competition will feature four teams from each community battling it out for pride, bragging rights and the coveted Border Battle Traveling Banner.
WHO GETS TO COMPETE?
For this community event we want you the community to choose who you want to represent your gym. Starting June 11th, you will have the opportunity to vote for who you want on each team. Ballot boxes will be placed on the front desk and we will be needing to vote in athletes for 4 teams of MM/FF. The community will get to choose (2) athletes for each division and the coaching staff will get to choose (2) athletes for each division.
The divisions are as follows:
MM/FF RX
MM/FF SC
MM/FF Master’s 30+
MM/FF Master’s 40+
When voting in your athletes that will represent your COL community this year vote for those that represent your gym. Talented in CrossFit for sure, but also vote for the athlete that helps others and gives back to our community. Maybe it’s someone who has improved tremendously this year or maybe it’s someone who has all the talent in the world but has not yet challenged themselves to a Crossfit competition.
Athletes chosen by you, the community, will receive the following:
*Official COL Border Battle Personalized Uniforms
*Official COL Comp athlete Bio Photo
*The Celebrity treatment of an official Border Battle athlete.
*The pressure of knowing the whole gym is counting on you!!!!! 😉 jk
WHAT IF I DON’T GET TO COMPETE?
If you don’t get selected this year to represent COL in the Border Battle, there is always next year. This is more true than ever. Lift and COL have made a rule with our border battle event that once an athlete competes in a division, they can not compete in that division again. This will give all athletes a chance to represent their gym and compete in this event year after year.
Also the event will be a day long carnival of events to allow the spectators of each gym to party, show their gym pride and also get to know some CrossFitters East of the Mississippi River. Fans are invited to come early as we will have open gym and our normal COL Saturday class prior to the start of competition. After your morning workout bring a lawn chair and stay the whole day sipping an adult beverage or two and cheer on your COL community.
We are so excited about this new tradition and we hope you are too. We look forward to seeing you all Aug 11th.
