Sam grew up in Lakeville Minnesota. Between her childhood passions of Disney movies, riding horses, clogging around in cowboy boots or pretending to be a cat this goofy youngster turned out to be a pretty awesome athlete! Her athletic endeavors through her youth, high school and college years consisted of soccer, running, more running and then more running after that. So much running in fact Sam ended up fracturing both hips from constant pounding while training for multiple marathons.
After graduating from The University of Minnesota with degrees in both Psychology and Communications Sam knew the way she exercised and trained had to change.
After realizing her body was not approving of running upwards of 12-15 miles a day Sam found CrossFit. CrossFit turned out to be a perfect fit for Sam. The competitive element and constantly varied training kept her workout routine interesting and made her feel like she was back on a team again. She knew her love of CrossFit needed to be shared with others, In 2012 Sam received her Level 1 and has been coaching in the metro area ever since.
Sam has a deep love of CrossFit and knows how much it can affect people’s life in a positive way. She is always trying to help athletes in the gym set and reach personal goals. She takes pride in always taking athletes farther than they ever thought they could. Sam self admits she sometimes comes off as serious or overly focused, but that is just her passion for coaching and making each and every athlete better.
Sam currently lives in Minnetonka, MN with her husband Jason, their daughters Harper, Harlow, and Hazel, and their Yellow Lab Kaylee. Sam’s interest outside of CrossFit include cooking and baking, Yoga, traveling, shopping and spending time with her family in Lakeville.
