Kate grew up in New Ulm, Minnesota. She enjoyed lots of time outdoors as she grew up hiking, camping, swimming, drawing and soccer. Growing up Kate battled with an eating disorder, which led her to pursue a degree in fitness to help others develop a better relationship with their bodies through healthy eating habits and fitness.
Kate has a BA in Exercise Science through Concordia University and put it to use at Life Time Fitness for several years as a personal trainer and Alpha Coach. She loved lifting on machines for years, dabbling in the barbells here and there until someone asked her one day "Do you want to do some cleans with me?" (She did grab a broom at first). But from there she discovered CrossFit and quickly fell in love with it. She helped organize events and competitions and discovered a community she couldn't stay away from.
Kate took a step back from coaching for a few years as she rediscovered a passion in life - photography. If she's in the gym and not working out, she probably has a camera in her hand capturing every “lifting face” she can.
Outside of the gym, you can find Kate honing her photography skills, hiking, painting or curled up on the couch with a good book.
