This will be our third year honoring the memory of Ike Braun. Ike was still born at 38 weeks on September 2nd, 2019. Ike was the son of two of our very own Jason and Kate Braun. Jason and Kate joined our COL community shortly after this tragic event in 2019. They wanted to remember Ike every year by making his birthday, positive memorable and special.
The Braun’s wanted to remember and honor Ike in a few different ways:
- Doing something positive. They started the “Ike” Toy Drive for Children’s Hospital to donate to families and children going through health issues of their own. The first year the Braun’s and COL collected over 2000 toys to donate to families and children with extended stays at Children’s Hospital.
- Spread kindness and love to people in their community. The Braun’s wanted to make an initiative on this anniversary of their son. We have done this each year with Kindness coins that Kate gives out after each Ike’s WOD. Our members leave with an act of kindness that they must complete that day to brighten someone else’s day and “spread the love” in our community.
- Continuously help and support other families in our community who are struggling with infertility or who are grieving the loss of a child from miscarriage or still birth. Kate and Jason have done this with numerous local charities who support families going through similar tragedies.
With this being said, please come and participate in Ike’s Memorial WOD on Sept. 3rd. Classes are at 8, 9 and 10am. If you can, please bring a toy to donate to Children’s Hospital and also on this day remember to do something kind for another human in remembrance of Ike.
